This class in two parts is a comprehensive guide to interpreting adult cardiology encounters. As we will mention throughout the course, cardiology as a topic of discussion comes up across care settings. For example, the Interpreter must be prepared to interpret cardiology content in the Emergency Room, in the Hypertension Clinic, in the Diabetes Clinic, and during consents for surgery.
Our objectives for this course are that by the end of the class the Interpreter will:
Realize the scope and the high stakes of modern cardiology medicine. The Interpreter must learn about many different organ systems and types of interventions in order to competently interpret for a patient with cardiac disease.
• Learner will understand structure of cardio-vascular system, as well as mechanical and electrical functions.
• Learner will understand medical terminology roots relating to cardiology
• Learner will understand scope of present-day cardiology practice.
