Description

This is a 90-minute webinar held in December, 2022. It focuses on the core concepts around trauma-informed interpreting. Accredited CEUs: 1.5 CCHI, 0.15 IMIA/NBCMI.

By the nature of the work they do, interpreters have the opportunity to facilitate communication for vulnerable populations in society. To assist interpreters in being prepared to provide language access to these groups, we will explore trauma from the perspective of the interpreter and discuss strategies for navigating these difficult situations.

 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand Trauma, its impact on patients and the care team, and ways it can impact communication
  2. Learn the principles of trauma-informed care
  3. Understand TBRI – Trust Based Relationship Intervention
  4. Garner strategies to manage difficult situations
  5. Develop an understanding of how language and cultural competency play an important role in delivering trauma informed care
